Marinera
Marinera

Rotary gives us the chance to learn more about the peruvian culture for this the give us the opportunity to take Marinera classes.

Marinera is a traditional peruvian couple dance from the coast. It's a very romantic dance with a lot of eye contact. Last week my classes started and I have to say it is definitely not easy...😅😅 a lot of footwork and a good posture are needed to even learn the basics. Marinera is like a sport that you really need to practice. My arms and feet hurted a lot after my first class but it is a beautiful dance that I really want to learn so I will continue and maybe will know how to dance it at the end of the year.💃

Barranco & Larcomar
Barranco & Larcomar

Yesterday I went to Barranco and Larcomar with a good friend of mine. First we took a taxi too Barranco a city with a lot of wonderful wall paintings and good food😍.

We took a lot of fotos and also eat a peruvian meal ,,Anticuchos'' (beef hearts) and ,,Picarones'' (donuts made out of sweet potatoes with honey)🍖🍩😍. It was delicious and we had a wonderful view to the ocean.

After finishing eating we walked to Larcomar, a shopping center in Miraflores. There we drank Starbucks and eat some cake with a peruvian fruit, which name I can't remember, and chocolate☕🍰🍫.

We also had a great view at Lima and the ocean from there.

When we left we promised each other to definitely come here again together to see more and eat something delicious again.❤

Today after my marinera classes I will go ,,Plaza San Miguel'' with three friends to go shopping and eating but more about that later 😊😜.

Proyecto Huarochiri
Proyecto Huarochiri

On the 13.9 we had one of your wonderful Rotary projects. We went to two school in Lima to teach and play with the children there.
First we went to a kindergarden where we gonna renovate the roof and danced, palyed and talked with the childern. They were so sweet and we had a lot of fun with them. I'm really excited to visit them again and help them.
After this we went to a primary school. We all planed activities with them so we could be divided to different classes. Most of us thought the children something about our country and culture. So did I me and two other germans thought the children something about german culture and a little bit of ther german language like : Danke (thank you), Hallo (hello) or Wie geht es dir ? (How are you?).
After these lessons we played a few even for us very funny games and went home.
It was a wonderful and very important day for me to see how different the people in Peru live and what little things can make different people happy.

I'm so happy to be able to help them through the organization of Rotary which helps us to do amazing things for the communitys here❤

Almuerzo multipaís
Almuerzo multipaís

Last Saturday, the 15.9, we (the Rotary Exchange students in Peru) organized a lunch to collect money for our project in Puno, a small village that we will visit on your trip in Arequipa. We will buy and build a kitchen in the school so the children and teacher can eat there after their long way ( almost 2 hours of walking up a mountain).
To be able to afford all of the materials we need we decided to organise a lunch where everyone of us cooked a traditional dish of his country.
With a lot of food and enthusiasm we started the lunch and it was phenomenal. A lot of people came and donated a lot, we raised twice as much as the year before us which made us all so happy.
It was and awesome day and the next we all went to the presidents house (el palacio) and a museum with Rotary.

El palacio
El palacio

The day after our successful lunch we went to the presidents house (el palacio) a very big and beautiful building our guide told us a lot about its history and building way. It was sooo beautiful that we automatically felt important because we were allowed to be in there. We took a lot of pictures and even saw the guardians change which was very special with music and very thing. It looked like a little parade.
After our visit there we went to a museum in a church which was pretty awesome for a church as a museum. It had a lot of beautiful paintings but also graves of important persons and babys :(
The day was very structured and full of learning so after it end we all went home to get some rest for the next week when we would start our first trip of the year to Arequipa and Puno on the 20.9.18.

El primer viaje: Cusco, Puno, Arequipa❤
El primer viaje: Cusco, Puno, Arequipa❤

Our trip started on the 20 of september at the airport in Lima. We all checked in and were super excited to arrive in our first city of the trip : Cusco . Before we arrived we all took our Seroje Pill, a medicacion against altitude sickness because you must know that Lima is on a height of 0m and Cusco at 3000m and more.
After a short flight we arrived in Cusco. It is beautiful 😍 compared to Lima there is a lot of green and beautiful mountains. With the bus we went to our hotels were we ate and started our first little tour to ,,La Plaza de Armas'', one of the most important places in Cusco.
After eating dinner we all went straight to bed to be rested for the next day because we had a strict program so we could see a lot of Peru and his culture. The next day we visited a few little places in a small city named Pisac. But our first really special event was on our 3 day in Cusco after waking up at 3 am we drove 3 hours to the mountain of 7 colors. At the bottom we started a 2 hour hike up to the top which is 5336m high😅
At the end of this exhausting hike we finally reached the top with a fantastic view 🏔. We took a lot of picture even when it was horribly cold. After arriving in our hotel we all sleeped a lot so we could recover from our adventure.
2 days later we had the next breathtaking hike up to Machu Picchu 😮🏔. Some of us, like me, took the bus instead of hiking all the way up because we felt altitude sick. But after our arrival we all had the amazing view up to one of the seven world wonders ❤ It was a wonderful time up there and we took a loooooooooot of fotos too remember that time.
Not a lot of time to rest after our unforgettable time up at Machu Picchu we started our bus trip to Puno from were we drove over the Lake Tittikaka (yes I know my german fellow friends very funny😅😁) to the island ,,Amantani'', a beautiful little island where we lived for 2 days in hostfamilys. We had a community project in one of the schools on the island. We painted the school, installed a computer and printer, brought them new books, constructed a little house for a teacher to sleep in and played with the children. We all loved to help this school and also love our hostfamilys there, I personally look forward to visit this wonderful island again❤. After the long day of work we all jump and swam in Lake Tittikaka, a experience we will never forget🏝.
At our last night the had a party in the traditional clothes of the island members.
The next day was a hurtful goodbye for us all when we returned to Puno as preparation for our trip to the Colca Canyons the next morning.
After our 6 hour bus trip to the hotel in the Colca Canyons we all took a relaxing bath in the natrual hotsprings in our hotel. On day eleven of our trip we visited ,,La cruz del Condor'' in Chivay which is one of the deepest canyons in the world. We saw a lot of Condors flying over the Canyon. They look majestic😍. Back at the hotel we chilled in the hot springs, relaxed, talked and had a delicious dinner. On the next morning we had to say goodbye to the awesome Colca Lodge we stayed in and started our way to Arequipa in the bus. After a 3 hour bus trip we arrived in our hotel and went outside to spent a fun evening with a soccer game, music and a lot of dancing together. Our last day started the next day and we all went to see two arequipian sights: La momita Juanita (a mummy that was found in Arequipa) and Santa Catalina (an old cloister for young girls). At lunch we talked a lot and had fun before we all decided to eat some ,,Queso helado'' (no it's not real cheese as ice cream it just looks like it) and went back to the hotel to go swimming and chill a little bit before we went eating ,,salchipapa'' (fries with sausages). Finished with eating I drank a gaint glass of Emoliente ( my favorite hot drink in Peru) and had 2 hours of free time at the ,,Plaza de Armas'' in the center of Arequipa. We walked around a bit and eat a loooot of chocolate before we went back to the hotel to spent the rest of the night together. On our last day we eat breakfast all together before our big and sad goodbye with a promise to write eachother a lot and went to the airport. Back Lima I atee a looot of the delicious food that my hostmum made me and went straight to bed because I had school the next day.🏫
